Sashiko (刺し子) is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that translates to "little stabs," referring to the small, functional running stitches used to mend, reinforce, and decorate clothing.
This class will teach you the mindful practice of visible mending using Sashiko stitching.
Sashiko can be used as a decorative embellishment or a reinforced mending stitch. Using specialist needles and thread we will learn different stitching techniques and methods.
THIS COURSE WILL COVER
Suitable for beginner sewists, the class will cover:
· simple Sashiko stitches
· create a sampler piece of Sashiko stitching.
· bring along a garment to begin mending or embellishing.

This class is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to hand stitch and has an interest in visible mending.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
Everything for this class is included in the price. Please bring along an item of clothing to repair or embellish. Nothing too thin or floaty.
WHERE WILL THE WORKSHOP BE?

All classes take place in our studio space in Sheffield. We are on the main bus route along Abbeydale road.
We have a dedicated workshop space. We are located within The Old Coach House building. Access is via a flight of stair. Unfortunately we aren’t accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs.
We have a fully equipped kitchen and toilet.
