Simple Skirt Making Workshop - perfect for beginners

Making a skirt is a perfect starter project for anyone wanting to start dressmaking. This workshop will give you an opportunity to learn how to insert an elastic waistband, sew pockets and sew a perfect hem. There is lots to learn during this class. The pattern can be made in sizes XXS - 4XL. The skirts can be made in 2 different length options. Use denim, cotton, cord or even African cotton to make a unique garment.

THIS COURSE WILL COVER

Suitable for beginners, the class will cover:

· How to cut your fabric and make all necessary markings.

· How to cut fabric pieces using paper pattern pieces.

· How to construct pockets.

· How to sew a neat even hem.

· How to stitch in the ditch whilst inserting a waistband.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is suitable for beginners. It helps if you have used a sewing machine before but not essential.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

You will need to bring fabric suitable for making your skirt. 1.5 meters is perfect.

All classes take place in our studio space in Sheffield. We are on the main bus route along Abbeydale road.

We have a dedicated workshop space. We are located within The Old Coach House building. Access is via a flight of stair. Unfortunately we aren’t accessible to wheelchairs or pushchairs.

The studio has 8 Brother sewing machines, 4 Brother overlockers and all the sewing equipment you need for your sewing projects. We have a fully equipped kitchen and toilet.
